The Sailing Club at ASU encourages students of all experience levels, even those with no experience at all to come try out the team.  The club needs experienced sailors for intercollegiate raicng and to help give instruction to the newcomers, as they offer classes for participants with little or no experience sailing.  Check out the clubs site http://asusailing.org for more info on joining the team.
